We are sorry to announce that Moray Mountain Sports will not be managing a future installment of the Haile Marathon. Thank you to all of our runners and guests, and all those who worked diligently behind the scenes on the 2013 event. It was truly an extraordinary experience and we are grateful to have had the opportunity to produce such a unique race that brought people from 16 different countries to the fascinating lands of Ethiopia.

Congratulations Participants!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the inaugural Haile Gebrselassie Marathon!

It was exciting to see runners of all ages and from 16 different countries gather together in Hawassa to share the experience of running in this first-ever race. It was my pleasure to host you in my country and introduce you to the culture and people of Ethiopia.

Thank you also to the hundreds of volunteers who provided support to the runners and team. I hope you all enjoyed the races and will come back to run again soon!

By hosting a world class marathon in the heart of Ethiopia, we hope to introduce you to a country that is truly remarkable for the warmth and generosity of its people, its impressive historical sites and dramatic landscapes, and its ancient culture with roots that trace back to the time of Solomon. Ethiopia stands alone as the only African country never colonized. Resilient, determined, and passionate, Ethiopia embodies the spirit of the marathoner.
